Petroleum Explorationists advocate for enabling environment, incentives

By Oluwagbenga Bankole

Petroleum Explorationists in the country under the aegis of Nigerian Association of Petroleum Explorationists (NAPE) have advocate for an enabling environment and incentives from the Federal Government.

Speaking today at a Media Parley in the association’s head office in Lagos, NAPE President, Mr. Chikwendu Edozien said that the main reason behind the agitation for the enabling environment and incentives is in order to increase exploration opportunities especially in high-risk frontier basins and under-explored deep High pressure High Temperature (HPHT) plays.

Edozien further stated that; “NAPE proposes that NipeX is further optimized to reduce contracting cycles for services and projects to a maximum of three months and nine months respectively. Lowest bidder concept is being abused through ridiculously low bids. NAPE proposed that for low to medium cost technical services bids significantly outside operator estimated cost ranges be disqualified. ”

According to him, NAPE will continue to support engagement and mutual support between oil and gas producing companies and host communities.
