CHELSEA manager, Jose Mourinho insists goalkeeper Petr Cech is not on his way to Arsenal.
Starsport reported yesterday how
Arsene Wenger is ready to step up his pursuit of Cech after losing
faith in Wojciech Szczesny.
The Arsenal boss is frustrated
with the Poland No.1, 24, after his two blunders in the 2-0 defeat at
top-four rivals Southampton on New Year’s Day.
He plans to make a £7m bid for
Stamford Bridge stopper Cech, who lost his place at the start of this
season to Thibaut Courtois
Mourinho is desperate for him to stay and claims there is “no chance” he will move on.
But Cech’s agent Viktor Kolar said: “I think Arsenal should have made an offer to him.
“I think Petr would be considering it.”
Wenger axed Szczesny for
yesterday’s FA Cup game against Hull at the Emirates, with Colombia
keeper David Ospina, 26, preferred.
Mourinho also confirmed he’s
recalled Jamal Blackman from Middlesbrough to cover for third-choice
goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer, who has joined Leicester.
Meanwhile Chelsea boss Jose
Mourinho apologised to referee Kevin Friend after criticising him for
not
awarding Chelsea a penalty during their 3-0 FA Cup victory over
Watford at the weekend.
Mourinho claimed the decision
not to award a spot-kick after Craig Cathcart handled a Diego Costa shot
was part of a “campaign” against his team.
But he later had a change of heart, praising Friend for “great refereeing”.
Mourinho added: “I want to apologise for my comments in some TV interviews.”
Once Cathcart had handled inside
the area, the ball fell to Loic Remy, who scored with a half-volley to
double Chelsea’s advantage after substitute Willian had given them a
second-half lead.
Referee Friend later told the Portuguese he would have awarded a spot-kick had the striker not scored.
