Chelsea threaten Man Utd plans for PSG defender Marquinhos

Chelsea are joining Manchester United in the race for PSG defender Marquinhos.

United failed twice with offers for the Brazilian in January and remain in the hunt for his signature.

The Daily Star Sunday says, however, United may well have competition for his signature, with Chelsea also set to enter the frame.

Jose Mourinho has made no secret that his search for a potential long-term successor to veteran skipper John Terry is already under way.

A source close to the French outfit said: "PSG know there are some big English clubs trying to buy Marquinhos but, for now, they would prefer not to sell him.

"He is an important player."
