The
victory of President Goodluck Jonathan in this next week's presidential
election has been signed sealed and delivered according to Yomi Awoniyi, Kogi
State Deputy Governor, advised the people of Mopamuro LGA not to do selective
voting in the general election but to vote for all PDP candidates.
Awoniyi
made the remarks when he addressed Ward to Ward canvassers and PDP supporters
in Mopamuro LGA at the weekend, and solicited support for all the National Assembly
candidates of the party.
The
Deputy Governor urged the people not to embark on selective voting as is being
clamoured for by some persons, disclosing that for President Jonathan to
continue the good works he has begun in the next dispensation, he needs to have
majority legislators who are of the PDP in the National Assembly, urged the
people not to be swayed by the propaganda of the opposition, disclosing that
the PDP aside its earlier challenge before the election, is now poised to
emerge victorious in the next week poll.
In
his words," Come March 28, PDP will win the presidential election. I urge
you to vote for the Senate and House of Representative candidates as well. We
cannot afford to vote minority parties. We will do ourselves great harm I beg
you all ".
Awoniyi
maintained that President Jonathan has done well by introducing YouWin
programme, Sure -P, Reactivating the railway, and providing good road as well
as improve electricity, (Garagu power Station), Reactivation of Ajaokuta Steel
Company among other projects.
The
Deputy Governor urged the people to vote for Jonathan and all PDP candidates
for more dividends of Democracy in Kogi State.
He
solicited support for the return of Senator Smart Adeyemi and Hon Sunday
Karimi, pleading with the people to work
for an overwhelming and convincing victory in the general election for the
party.
According
to Awoniyi, "let's forgive all the candidates of the party whom we may be
dissatisfied with. We stand to benefit more if the party wins. I beg on behalf
of all our candidates and I assure you that with the lessons we have learnt,
the next four years will be better, everyone will be carried along",
Awoniyi said.
While
noting that Mopamuro has always been a PDP area, charged the canvassers to
reach out to the electorates, embark on house to house visitation, with a view
to wooing them to vote the PDP based on the achievements of President Jonathan
in the last four years.
Awoniyi
said Jonathan remains one among the best performed presidents the country has
ever produced, said his achievements had been under reported little wonder the
misinformation be made in the minds of Nigerians.
Earlier
the PDP Local Government Chairmen, Shogo Williams, said the meeting was called
to disabuse the minds of some party members who are bent on embarking on
selective voting of candidates ahead the general election, and to educate them
on the benefit of voting President Jonathan alongside all the candidates of the PDP whom he said when
elected will ease the work of President Jonathan in delivering democracy
dividends to the people in the next dispensation.
