2014 LAIF Award: DDB shine, Insight Communications shine like a million stars

Two of the leading advertising agencies in Nigeria DDB Lagos and Insight Communication shine like a million stars at the recently held 2014 edition of the Lagos Advertising & Ideas Festival (LAIF) award.

LAIF award is the brain child of the Association of Advertising Agencies of Nigeria (AAAN). The award seeks to recognize creative excellence, help to improve the quality of creative craft and to promote the spirit of healthy competition, applying global best practices.

At the event held at Civil Center, Lagos, DDB Lagos won a total number of seven gold, 12 silvers and 12 bronzes to top the medals table while Insight Communication came second on the medals table with four gold, 15 silvers and 25 bronzes medals.

Other notable advertising agencies on the medals table includes: X3M Ideas, Noah’s Ark, 141 Worldwide, Yellow Brick, Lintas and Centrespread. The table also includes TBWA/Concept, SO & U, Culture Communication, Etu Odi Advertising, Fuel Comm, LTC and Rosabel. A total number of 123 medal were won by the advertising agencies.

While speaking about the theme of this year’s award which is ‘Co-Create, Great Ideas come from anywhere ’, President of AAAN Mr. Kelechi Nwosu said that the LAIF award is the creation of avenue for the celebration of great ideas. He noted that as a country we must think of creativity, describing creativity as the ability to invent something excellent.

He said, “in today’s world, astute companies and individual must make the hunt for new ideas continuously and relentlessly. Companies must regard any challenge as a unique opportunity to described or construct an effective innovation solution by engaging in collaboration arrangement where to enlarge their ideas pool, control cost and ensure that project get done.”

He finally implored the agencies to demonstrate the spirit of sportsmanship, stating that winning and losing is part of life.

Key industry players at the event include Mr. George Kayode Noah, MD/CEO LASSA, Mr. Wale Adenuga Mr. Kola Oyeyemi, (ADVAN President), Alhaji Bello Kankarofi (APCON Registerer), Bunmi Oke (Former President AAAN), Mr. Joel Nattey President AAG (Ghana) among other dignitaries.

The LAIF Awards is an international status awards ceremony that competes favourably with global practices. It was initiated in year 2006 to launch Nigeria’s creative potentials in the international circle as well as recognize marketing communication excellence.
