Adesina weeps as Jonathan, others pay tribute to Ashiru

Ambassador Olugbenga Ashiru
The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Dr. Akinwunmi Adesina, on Wednesday shed tears as President Goodluck Jonathan led members of the Federal Executive Council to pay tribute to a former Minister of Foreign Affairs, late Ambassador Olugbenga Ashiru.

Ashiru died of brain tumour at a South African hospital on November 29.

Adesina who hails from Ogun State like the deceased was seconding the motion moved by the Supervising Minister of Information, Dr. Nurudeen Muhammed, that a minute silence be observed in honour of the deceased when he suddenly betrayed emotion.

Sun re o, egbon. Sun re o, egbon (Sleep on brother),” he struggled to say as he quickly removed his eyeglasses and wiped away tears.
