The candidate of the All Progressives
Congress for Lagos State governorship election in 2015 general
elections, Mr. Akinwumi Ambode, on Monday visited the state Governor,
Babatunde Fashola (SAN) in his office.
The visit was seen by many as the
beginning of the end to the acrimony that trailed the APC governorship
primary which pitted one of the national leaders of the APC, Senator
Bola Tinubu against his political godson, Fashola.
Fashola had reportedly supported a
former Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General of the Justice in
the state, Mr. Olasupo Shasore (SAN), while Tinubu backed Ambode.
Political observers had thought that the
outcome of the primary would disunite the state APC and destroy the
relationship between Fashola and Tinubu.
But Monday’s visit of Ambode to Fashola
and the governor’s well-publicised congratulatory message to the APC
governorship candidate had put paid to this.
It was learnt that during the meeting, Ambode sought Fashola’s support for next year’s election.(PUNCH)
