APC picks female running mate for Amosun

The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress in Ogun State, Mr. Roqeeb Adeniji, on Tuesday named a running mate for Governor Ibikunle Amosun for the 2015 governorship election.

She is Mrs Yetunde Onanuga, 54, a deputy director of finance and administration at the Lagos State Ministry of the Environment and daughter of the Alakaka of Akaka, in the Ijebu North Local Government Area of the state.

While unveiling her to other party leaders and loyalists in Abeokuta, Adeniji said the choice of Onanuga as running mate followed a painstaking and careful considerations.

He added that the running mate was well accepted by the governor.

The APC chairman said, “I want to present Mrs. Yetunde Onanuga to you all as the running mate to the incumbent governor, Ibikunle Amosun. She will run alongside him in the 2015 governorship election. She is well accepted by the governor.”

Amosun at the event said, “Today is a special day. The advice of the elders is well taken, when the time comes, I will do the right thing.”

Onanuga promised to be loyal to the governor, the party and the people of Ogun State.

Amosun’s incumbent deputy, Prince Segun Adesegun, recently defected from the APC to the Social Democratic Party after accusing the governor of starving his office.
