The controversy surrounding the primary to select the governorship
candidate for the All Progressives Congress in Lagos State appears
unending as the election has stretched to the second day.
The primary, where the former Lagos State Accountant General, Akin
Ambode, is said to be ahead of 11 other aspirants, started on Thursday
at Onikan Stadium with 6,000 delegates scheduled to vote.
Punch reports that while the result and who wins the
primary are not in doubt, counting of votes was still in progress as of
8am on Friday with the counting of Ambode’s votes.
From the number of votes counted as of 8am on Friday, former
Commissioner for Works, Dr Obafemi Hamzat, scored 1,201 votes to place
second while Senator Ganiyu Solomon got 272 votes to place third.
Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Mr Adeyemi Ikuforiji, scored 182 votes to occupy the fourth spot.
Ambode, whose votes are currently being counted, is said to have scored about 3,735 votes to record a landslide victory.
