AN unemployed graduate, Mr. Omoyibo
Emmaunuel has dragged the Federal University of Petroleum Resource Effurun
(FUPRE) before a Federal High Court in Warri, Delta State over the non
publication of the results of an interview conducted by the institution seeking
for employment.
He also pray the court to compel the
institution to publish the results of applicants “who participated in the
written examinations into various vacant positions”.
He said he was seeking the reliefs
under the Freedom of Information Act, 2011 and the Federal Character Act.
Emmanuel said it was expedient on
the University to publish the examination results; having published the vacant
positions on some national dailies on May 21, 2013.
He lamented the “inconvenience, he
and other applicants who came from all the nooks and crannies of Nigeria to participate in the examinations on 21st November,
2013”.
The applicant in the suit filed by
his counsel, K. C. Wisdom Esq. and made available to newsmen in Benin City
noted that the institution has refused to release the examination results “despite repeated demands”.
He therefore urged the court for a
declaration that the results be published and made available to him within
seven days of the receipt of the court process
The applicant also sought for an
order that the comprehensive list/interview panel records of current staff
(including indigenous staff of Delta State) of the University between 1st
January 2014 to date should be produced.
Besides, he prayed that the criteria
and comprehensive guidelines for determining eligibility for employment in the
University; being a Federal Government Owned University should also
be produced”.
