Plateau attack death toll rises to six – STF

Commander of the Special Task on security in Jos, Maj. Gen. David Enetie, has said one more person died from Sunday attack in Mbar community of Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau state, bringing the total number to six.

The commander said 15 persons were taken  to the hospital while 10 houses were burnt.
Enetie, in a statement signed by the Media Officer, Capt. Ikedichi Iweha, said the attackers were yet to be arrested.

The statement said, “At about 1930hrs on September 14, 2014, the attention of the STF was drawn to an ongoing attack by gunmen at Mbar Village of Bokkos district in Bokkos Local Government council.

“On arrival of troops, a total of 5 persons were confirmed dead.  Those dead include an elderly man and a young man. A woman and two toddlers in a house died of suffocation. Another woman later died at the hospital bringing the total death to 6.


“15 persons who sustained injuries were evacuated to the hospital, while 10 houses were burnt. Troops have however restored order to the area.
