UNN Student emerges 2014 NIMN Best Marketing Student



Ugwoke Peace, a final year marketing student of University of Nigeria was grin like a Cheshire cat when her named was announced as the winner of 2014 National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria (NIMN) Best Marketing Student of the year recently held at Planet One, Marry-Land, Lagos.

Peace leapfrogged other four students and went home with a whopping sum of N100,000 cheque, a certificate and  marketing textbook.  

The award is an initiative of NIMN to indentify and nurture talents offering marketing and business administration in higher institution in order to focus their attention of pursuing a professional.

While speaking about the award, the assistant director of examination NIMN, Mr. Sidney Ogodo said the Unilever sponsored award is a deliberate strategy to create a competitive synergy between various schools offering marketing and business administration.

Besides, he added, it was also designed to identify and nurture marketing talents in the nation’s tertiary institutions from the cradle, in order to promote the profession and expose students in tertiary institutions to the reality of professionalism in marketing practice.

In an exclusive interview with TOTALNEWS247, Peace described her victory as a reward to hardwork, stating that she has been looking forward to a day her academic effort will be bountifully crown.

She acknowledged that the award will add to her curriculum vita (CV) and give her an edge over her compatriot. She also said that, “I am optimistic that better things are on my way. I am looking forward to be the best marketing student in the world.” 

Before the grand finale, 42 students of various higher institutions in the country were subjected to three hours writing exams and an oral interview. It will be recalled that Constance Nkechi Atueyi, a 400-level student in the Marketing Department of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, emerged the winner of the 2013 edition of the award.
