As part of its corporate social
responsibility, UAC Nigeria Limited, owners of MR. Biggs brand operating
under franchise by various operators, has donated sets of Nike
football brand to Ilupeju All Stars football club.
Explaining the rationale behind the
corporate social responsibility Eustesia Ogunsusi, acting marketing
manager, UAC said the gesture is to support members of the club’s
career. “This is in appreciation of what they are doing for themselves
and for the country. We believe in work and play. We are connecting with them at play level that is why we are giving out the balls to them”.
According to her, the company ran product
promotion recently when it gave out some balls and after the promo, the
company still had some balls in the store and “we decided to use it to
connect with football players at the grassroots”, she said.
She said that UAC is connecting with them
and making the youth know that MR Biggs is alive to such courses. “This
is the first donation in the series and we are giving 15 balls to each
grassroots club we identify. Next year we will roll out another plan to
connect with consumers countrywide”, she told BusinessDay.
Ogunsusi who recognized stiff competition
in the fast food industry but said that UAC is tackling it through
innovations and efficient operations further explained that with such
donation to grassroots the
“company is creating the awareness about our brands and top of the mind.
With this we are entrenching the brands in the minds of the consumers,
we are not only giving them value in terms of food we serve but are also
connecting with them at every facet of their programme”
At the venue, Ilupeju High School, Lagos the players engaged in match competition among themselves.
Recently, UAC Foods Limited (UFL), a
joint venture business between UAC of Nigeria Plc. (a leading indigenous
conglomerate in Nigeria) and Tiger Brands Limited (a leading South
African Foods Company) introduced Gala Chicken Sausage Roll into the
market.
Gala Chicken Sausage Roll is a lacerated
pastry with pure chicken filling that comes in a beautifully designed
wrapper using a combination of green, red and yellow colours. The new
Gala Chicken Sausage Roll, the first of its kind in the category, was
recently introduced into the market as an extension to the Gala brand
during the launch held in Lagos with the trade partners.
Speaking during the launch, the Managing Director of UAC Foods Limited, Tawanda
Mushuku, said the new Gala Chicken Sausage Roll is an innovative
extension to the Gala brand which remains the No 1 and favourite sausage
roll brand among Nigerians.
“UAC Foods Limited is a consumer-centric
company that believes in manufacturing products to satisfy identified
needs of our consumers. The new Gala Sausage Roll that we unveiled today
is another innovative product developed to satisfy our consumers’
desires for a chicken-filled sausage roll”, he said.
In her remarks at the occasion, the
General Manager- Marketing, UAC Foods Limited, Joan Ihekwaba, stated
that Gala Chicken Sausage is the first sausage roll in the market with
100 percent pure chicken filling enriched with vitamins and minerals.
