Beg Giwa, Baribote to leave my tenure for me, Pinnick panics

Nigerians from all walks of life have been asked to beg the factional leader of the Nigeria Football Federation, Chris Giwa and his collaborator, Chief Victor Rumson Baribote to allow the board recognised by FIFA and CAF, elected popularly in Warri to work.

This call came from Mr Amaju Melvin Pinnick. He spoke in a local radio programme at the weekend monitored in Abuja.

His words: “I won an election that was recognised by both FIFA and CAF.  I beg Nigerians to beg Giwa for me. I have made overtures to Giwa, Baribote etc. Let them know that this position is meant for only one person and I am the one today. I have begged them to team up with the board for the interest of Nigerian football,” Pinnick said.

Pinnick also disclosed efforts he has made to restore peace in the nation’s football.

He said that he has spoken to Giwa, Chief Rumson Baribote and other aggrieved stakeholders pleading with them to sheath their sword in the interest of Nigerian football.

Giwa and his board had dragged the NFF to court over the election which brought them on board on the 26th August 2014. The court presided over by Justice Ambrose Allagoa gave injunctions on the NFF not to hold the processes that produced the election of Amaju Pinnick on the 30th September 2014.

The court will next Wednesday give ruling on the legality or otherwise of the election which breached the orders of that court and on the possibility of the criminal processes of contempt of court.

However, it will be recalled that a similar ruling by Justice Okon Abang of the Federal High Court Lagos over ruled the election that brought in Aminu Maigari in 2010. That order was not respected till date. The issue is, will Justice Allagoa’s orders be respected if and when given?
