The Awujale and paramount ruler of Ijebuland, Oba (Dr)
Sikiru Kayode Adetona, Ogbagba II, has thrown his weight behind the
second term bid of incumbent Governor of Ogun State, Ibikunle Amosun.
The
monarch openly canvassed for votes for the governor after he expressed
satisfaction with the giant stride of the governor, adding that his
exemplary works have so far surpassed those of his predecessors.
Awujale stated this Thursday in Ijebu Ode during the assessment and monitoring tour of the council by the governor and his team.
“By
December this year, I will be 55 years on the throne. All what I am
seeing today from the governor is fantastic. I have not witnessed all
these in the past and on behalf of all sons and daughters of Ijebuland,
we thank you so much and I pray that Almighty Allah will continue to be
with you and your household. I get information about how you come day
and night to inspect construction works and I know God will continue to
strengthen you.
“My people in Ijebu, the governor has done his own, the
people of Ijebu should not be ingrates. Your administration has been a
peaceful and enjoyable one. When somebody has worked, there must be a
reward for him. Amosun has worked for us and we must reward him for all
the good works he has been doing, not only in Ijebu, but in the state at
large,” the monarch said.
Many Ijebu sons and
daughters who spoke with our correspondent revealed that the governor
deserves a second term, promising to work hard to ensure victory for the
governor in the next governorship election in February 2015.
Chairman
of the State Teaching Service Commission, TESCOM, Ms Bukola Onabanjo
and the Ebumawe of Ago Iwoye, Oba Abdul Razaq Adenugba, corroborated the
view of Awujale, calling on all Ijebus to come out en masse to vote for
the governor so as to complete the good work he is doing in the state.
“This
is a clear fact and Awujale has spoken the minds of Ijebus both at home
and in the diaspora. The governor has been doing his best and we should
rally round him for the second term bid so that he will be able to
complete the good works he has started,” the TESCOM boss said.
In
his view, the Ago Iwoye monarch maintained that what the Awujale said
is the true position of all sons and daughters of Ijebu and when he has
spoken, no one dares challenge his authority except God.
“What
Awujale said is correct and that is our minds. A right thinking people
need not to be told that the governor still needs one more term to
complete all the good works he has started. So we should all rally round
him for success during next year’s election.
In his
address, the Chairman of Ijebu Ode Local Government, Mr. Razaq Oluwakemi
Daddah, thanked the governor on behalf of the people of Ijebu Ode and
solicit for more support for the government to enable it complete its
projects.
Daddah explained that the assessment tour is a
veritable opportunity for feedback needed to forge ahead and a
manifestation of the present administration’s commitment to carry all
stakeholders along in the development of the state.
