Adeboye charges school children on good behaviour

THE General Overseer, The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) Pastor Adejare Adeboye, has called on youths in the nation to comport themselves in such a manner that would draw God’s attention who wants to make them ‘chosen’ people in life.

Adeboye, who ministered to children of primary and secondary schools including teachers yesterday at the RCCG Headquarters, Ebute-Metta, Lagos, with the theme “Chosen Generation” and also prayed for them, described God as God of love and mercy always ready to turn bad destiny to good for anyone who forsakes his evil ways and love Him.

Also speaking through his Special Assistant, Administration and Personnel, Pastor Johnson Odesola, Adeboye lamented over various trials and temptations confronting the youth today capable of distancing them from God but assured that God is a perfect God who has equipped every youth with a heart to choose between evil and good.

“This is a technological age that exposes the youth to so many vices but the choice is theirs.

“In our days, television stations would come up at about 7.00 p.m. and would close around 12.00 a.m. but today, reverse is the case as television stations run 24 hours and the temptation is there for children to be glued to those programmes whether beneficial to them or not all through the night.

“You cannot compare educational standard of our time to that of these days as there are so many distractions not allowing children to concentrate on their studies.

“There is also need for the government to look into the qualification of many teachers today, teaching in private schools who found themselves in the profession because of joblessness in the nation while the government should also pay attention to ensure adequate remuneration is given to qualified teachers.”

He lamented over the idea of old generation still recycling themselves in government instead of allowing the youth with fresh ideas to take their rightful positions.

“The leaders who have retired are the ones recycling themselves without giving opportunity to the youth and it is not possible to continue to drive effectively a modern vehicle with 24th century engine.

“Deliberate attempt should be made to feature the youth who have fresh ideas to offer. We are experiencing little progress in some areas we have involved the youth in the church and if the government can adhere to our counsel to begin to involve the youth in some grey areas, it would be better for the youth as well as for the nation in future” he said.
