President David Mark has tasked the Nigeria Football Federation to
ensure that Nigeria defeat Sudan on Saturday in a 2015 Africa Cup of
Nations (AFCON) qualifier.
Mark gave the charge when the newly elected NFF board led by its president Amaju Pinnick paid him a courtesy visit at his residence in Abuja.
He said, "You have a difficult task no doubt about that because Nigerians are all football fans; once Nigeria is playing football everybody will come to a standstill and watch.
"All Even if there are crises, they put it on hold for the 90 minutes or 120 minutes that the game may go on; your first test of course is Sudan which is on Saturday.
"So, you need prayers because we just have to beat Sudan mercilessly in such a way that whatever Congo did to us will be forgotten very quickly. We need something to wipe that out and I think you have a big task to do."
