NIMN inaugurates Manchester Business School Alumni Forum

In its bid to make the institute a formidable one, the National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria, (NIMN) achieved another milestone on Saturday, October 11, 2014 when it launched Manchester Business School Alumni Forum (MBS-NIMN), with thirteen pioneering students during an all-night event, which held at Protea Hotel, Maryland, Lagos.

This launch was indeed a welcome development for members of the institute as it was not too long ago when the warring factions of the professional body united and decided to operate under one umbrella after so many years of division.

According to Mr. Ganiyu Koledoye, NIMN president, “I knew it was going to be tough leading the institute when I took over from Dr Lugard Aimiuwu last year; the only way to do that successfully is to build peace around the institute.”

He enumerated many achievements of his administration in terms of collaboration with other professional bodies and Federal Ministry of Commerce and Industry, bringing together opposing groups in the institute in taking the business of marketing in Nigeria to greater heights.

Koledoye added that Nigeria can only survive, if her marketing is good and the quality of knowledge garnered in Manchester would go a long way in ensuring this. He commended the students for the discipline and patriotism they exhibited while abroad.

When comparing the economic powers of the country with the city of Manchester, Dr. Chukwunyere Chukwu, the pioneering president of the 2014 Alumni Forum, stated that the efforts of the incumbent president and chairman of the institute through harmonising and uniting entrepreneurs is valuable in promoting marketing in Nigeria.

“This great country, Nigeria, has a strong market enterprise and workforce that can match the workforce of Manchester judging by the stability of the new National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria. Although NIMN has seen crises in time past, it is unified to create policies that are friendly to Nigerian marketers,” Chukwu said.

He also affirmed that the pioneering students of Manchester Business School-NIMN, Nigeria are fully in support of the current administration of NIMN and would continue to do everything possible within its power to move the institute forward.

The high point of the event was the presentations of certificate of attendance and awards to the students, including Dr. Chukwunyere Chukwu, Newton Igbinovia, Asiwaju Benson, Yemi Adesanya, Temisan Amuka-Pemu and Hajia Amina Adamu.

Others were Carol Allison, Lady Blessing Nwaoba, Oforka Eunice, Okoroji Clement, Medupin Gbenga, Chief Anumudu Elvis and Ven. Orji Goodhope.
