Stop preaching prosperity, cleric urges Christians

Rev. Prince Igwe,
An Anglican Church cleric, Rev. Prince Igwe, on Sunday called on Christians to focus more on preaching the entire Gospel rather than concentrating on prosperity.

The cleric gave the advice in a sermon at the Anglican Church of Ascension in Enugu.
“Christians should move away from preaching too much about prosperity and focus on going out to win souls for the Lord,” Igwe said

According to him, the primary reason why Christians are called followers of Christ is to win souls for God and bring many to the light.

“You can only become a wise Christian if you observe the injunctions of God and these include winning souls for Christ because in evangelism there is wealth, healing, and every other good thing in life,” he said.

Igwe admonished the congregation that the highest level of evangelism was to let their lives show light to people around them.

Earlier, Rev. Ifeanyi Okonkwo, charged the people to avoid using poverty as an excuse for “laziness”.

He urged them to rise up to life’s challenges and draw strength from God to overcome poverty for the sake of their families.

Okonkwo prayed for peace in Nigeria, saying that the country stood a better chance of developing in such an atmosphere.
